Arvada Cemetery Tour brings History Alive
Join the Arvada Historical Society for tours of the Arvada Cemetery, 5581 Independence Street, on Saturday, September 28, from noon to 3 PM. Tours will run every half hour starting at noon, with the last tour departing at 2:00 PM.
This year’s tours will feature some of Arvada’s pioneers who made the cemetery possible, such as George Swadley and John Juchem. Past tours have featured the lives of Colorado miners, former Arvada mayors, and historical figures who are buried in the cemetery. Tickets are $8, with children six and under free, and are available at the cemetery on the day of the tour. Complimentary refreshments are included.
This will also be the official 150th anniversary of the Arvada Cemetery. A special anniversary booklet will be available for $2 with fascinating tidbits about the history of the cemetery. Please dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes. Proceeds will benefit the Arvada Historical Society’s Flour Mill Annex Project and the Arvada Cemetery Associaton. For additional information, please call Arvada Historical Society at 303-431-1261.
