Apex Active Adult Programs – Sept. 2023

The following activities are all hosted at the Community Recreation Center, 6842 Wadsworth Blvd., Arvada, unless otherwise noted. NEW: Parkinson’s Support Group: Tuesday, Sep. 5, 2:30 pm
Whether you have Parkinson’s or care for someone who does, join others to share ideas and resources. This support group is facilitated and sponsored by the Parkinson Association of the Rockies. For more information about the content of the meetings, please email info@parkinsonrockies.org or call 303.830.1839. Advanced registration is appreciated but optional.
Crime Prevention Class: Wednesday, Sep. 6, 11:30 am
The Crime Prevention Class is a two-hour class geared towards citizens interested in learning basic crime prevention tips and tools to help reduce crime. Presented by the Community Response Impact Team (CRIT) of the Arvada Police Department. The class will also cover crime and statistics and how to become more involved with the Neighbors Connected program. A question-and-answer period will be offered. $5 ($6 non-res.).
Bridge – Intermediate: Friday, Sep. 8, 9:30 am
For players with at least basic knowledge of the Standard American Bidding System. We’ll review and expand on opening bids, responses, and rebids. Also included: the concept of balancing and some conventions. Learn to make the most of your cards as a declarer and as a defender. $72 ($86 non-res.).
NEW: Ballroom Dance Buffet: Monday, Sep. 11, 7:15 pm
Join us in September while we sample the elements of ballroom dance. We’ll do a couple of different ballroom styles each week and keep the class accessible and fun. Instruction in Waltz, Rumba, Swing, Cha Cha, Salsa, and more will be sampled. No previous dance experience is needed. Singles, couples, and groups are welcome. $24 ($29 non-res.).
Fall Prevention Workshop: Thursday, Sep. 14, 10:30 am
While fall prevention is something we focus on year around, we would like you to join Arvada Fire Department, Lutheran Medical Center, and Nymbl Science as they discuss different education, practices, and strategies for fall prevention. Free, but advanced registration is appreciated.
NEW: Special Event – Active Adult Sock Hop Dance: Friday, Sep. 22, 6 pm
Return to the days of poodle skirts and saddle shoes while reminiscing about the good ol’ times. Come dressed in your best and enjoy a night of dancing, entertainment, food, and friends. Singles, couples, and plus-ones are all welcome. $30 ($35 non-res.).
NEW: Social Cooking: Thursday, Sep. 28, 11:30 am
Join us as we prepare and eat a healthy and light meal for lunch as we slice, dice, and hope to add some sugar and spice to your cooking repertoire. Lunch, conversation, and a light dessert will be provided. $25 ($30 non-res.).
