Apex Active Adult Programs – Nov. 2023

Below is a sampling of Apex’s upcoming Active Adult program. You can stay updated on all the latest offerings by visiting ApexPRD.org. The following activities are all hosted at the Community Recreation Center, 6842 Wadsworth Blvd., Arvada, unless otherwise noted. Annual Craft Fair: Saturday, Nov. 4, 9-3 pm

Browse the unique seasonal wares of over 40 talented artisans and visit the Craft Carousel Gift Shop, featuring more handmade treasures. $2 admission at the door or free if you bring new school supplies for our local student outreach.

Grief Support Group:  Wednesday, Nov. 1, 11:30 am

Learn how to use the “three C’s of grieving,” choosing, connecting, and communicating, to deal with processing grief and moving forward during the holiday season. Free, but advanced registration is appreciated.

Nutrition – Demystifying Fats: Friday, Nov. 3, 1 pm

Fats have been blamed for our declining health since the 1950s, but are they really the villains they’ve been made out to be? Discover why fats are essential to health and learn why nutrient-dense, high-fat foods should be part of a healthy diet. $6 ($8 non-res.)

Active Adult – Book Club: Wednesday, Nov. 8, 1 pm

We will discuss “The Giver of Stars” by Jojo Moyes. Light refreshments will be provided. $5 ($6 non-res.).

Veterans Day Salute: Thursday, Nov. 9, 11 am

In honor of Veterans Day, join us for pie and ice cream and visit with our Active Adult sponsors. Free, but advanced registration is appreciated.

Tour the Town – Boulder: Thursday, Nov. 16, 8:45 am 

Hop on the bus to Boulder as we tour the town. We’ll start our day with a tour of the Celestial Seasoning’s factory, dine at Chautauqua Dining Hall, and explore Boulder. $30 ($35 non-res.).

Writing – Creative Writing: Thursday, Nov. 16, 11 am

Beginning and advanced writers are welcome to work on what interests them – memoirs, poems, short stories, essays. Writing is done at home and shared in the classroom in the supportive atmosphere of fellow writers. $44 ($53 non-res.).
