Apex Active Adult Programs – July 2023

The following activities are all hosted at the Community Recreation Center, 6842 Wadsworth Blvd., Arvada, unless otherwise noted. Free Concerts in the Park: Family Thursday Night Series: 7-8:30 pm at McIlvoy Park, 5750 Upham St, Arvada, CO

Children’s Friday Morning Series – July 7 and July 21, 9:30-10:15 am

Teddy Bear Tea with Grandparents and Me: Thursday, July 25, 1:30-3 pm
Grandparents and/or parents, bring the kids and their favorite teddy bear to enjoy a kid-friendly tea. Snacks included. Afterwards, partake in a fun craft together. Fee: $9/person. All children and adults must register. Register by July 24. $9/pp

Book Club: Wednesday, July 12, 1 pm
Book Club is back! We will be discussing “A Prayer for Owen Meany” by John Irving. Light refreshments will be provided. $5

Active Adult – Free Ice Cream Social: Friday, July 21, 11:15 am
Venture through the tables of toppings and cool down with your friends and this scrumptious frozen delight. We thank our sponsors Senior Placement of Denver, Humana, Devoted Health, Optimal Aging, Lutheran, and Arvada Auto Center, Relay Colorado, Kaiser Permanente, Brookdale Arvada, Brookdale Meridian, Brookdale Westland, Garden’s at St. Elizabeth, New West Physicians, Covenant Living, Medicare Made EZ, and Hearing Life. Free, but advance registration is appreciated.

Trips: Tour the Town – Manatou Springs: Thursday, June 20, 9:45 am
Step back into history with us as we tour Manitou Springs. We’ll start with a tour of the Manitou Cliff Dwellings, hunt for a few of the famous springs, and enjoy lunch in Historic Manitou Springs. The cost includes transportation, escort, and a $9 admission ticket to the Manitou Cliff Dwellings. The $9 admission ticket is non-refundable after July 5. $35 ($40 non-res.)

Trips: Colorado State Capitol: Wednesday, July 5, 9:15 am
Let’s get patriotic! Join us for a tour of the Colorado State Capitol on Wednesday, July 5. Capitol tours take about an hour and include a trip to the dome observation area. The dome is a 99-step climb above the 3rd floor and is accessible by stairs only. A closed-captioned video tour is available for visitors who are unable or do not wish to make the climb. $25 ($30 non-res.)

Rental Opportunities at the Center
Are you looking for an affordable space to host a birthday party, baby shower, or celebration? The center offers small meeting rooms that are perfect for groups no more than 50 and the McCormack Hall is large enough to host up to 200 people. Call Michelle at 303.467.7197 for more information.
