Apex Active Adult Programs – Jan. 2023

Below is a sampling of Apex’s upcoming Active Adult programs, but you can stay updated on all the latest offerings by visiting ApexPRD.org. The following activities are all hosted at the Community Recreation Center, 6842 Wadsworth Blvd., Arvada, unless otherwise noted.

Save the Date: Expo: There’s No Place Like Home: Wednesday, January 25, 9-11:30 am
Many people prefer to live in their own home or apartment as long as possible. Learn about in-home services and products to help keep you or a loved one at home longer. Also explore senior housing options in case you are considering a new place to call home. This event is free to the public, but please register in advance. Home services or senior residences call 303-467-7197 for vendor information

Save the Date: Art Show: Quilt
Show Dates: January 4-February 3 (during operating hours of the Community Center)
This annual show will surely delight your eyes and warm your soul! View the special artistic talents of these local quilters.

Arts and Crafts
Bob Ross Painting: Thursday, January 19, 11:30 am
Use the Bob Ross method of wet-on-wet painting to complete a 16″x20″ canvas in just 5 hours! Paint beautifully in one class, even if you have never picked up a brush. $70 ($84 non-res.)
Tuesday Painting: Tuesday, January 3-24, 12:30 pm
Explore your artistic journey in a creative and supportive studio setting. Bring your own supplies for the medium of your choice. Beginners welcome. $41 ($49 non-res.)
Art Basics: Friday, January 13-February 10, 1:00 pm
Perfect for beginners or as a refresher for those already painting. Learn drawing techniques, value, perspective, composition, color mixing/theory, art materials, and framing. $48 ($55 non-res.)

Active Adult Trips
Trip: Tour of the Towns: Evergreen: Thursday, January 5, 8:45 am
Starting out at the Evergreen Lake House, then heading downtown for shopping and an ice sculpture scavenger. After, head to Creekside Cellars for lunch and optional wine tasting. End the day with a tour of the Hiwan Museum and Heritage Park learning about Evergreen history. $30 ($35 non-res.)

Trip: Breckenridge Snow Sculpture: Thursday, January 26, 9 am
It’s the International Snow Sculpture Championship in Breckenridge! Watch artists from around the world sculpt as they prepare for the judging. Please dress in layers for winter and high-altitude weather. Lunch is on your own at a local restaurant of your choice. $37 ($47 non-res.)

Rental Opportunities at the Center
Are you looking for an affordable space to host a birthday party, retirement party, or a holiday party? The center offers small meeting rooms that are perfect for groups no more than 50 and the McCormack Hall is large enough to host up to 200 people. Call Michelle at 303.467.7197 for more information.
