Alzheimer’s Association “The Longest Day” Fundraiser Set for June 20, 2016

~ Local attraction offers activity for those seeking things to do to fight Alzheimer’s ~

Northglenn, CO – Denver Escape Room will open its doors at sunrise, 5:30 a.m. on Monday, June 20, 2016, for teams participating in the Alzheimer’s Association’s The Longest Day fundraiser. Doors will stay open until sunset, 8:30 p.m., as long as groups working to raise funds to fight Alzheimer’s keep coming. Every penny brought in on this day will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association – Colorado Chapter.

The Longest Day is a team event to raise funds and awareness for the Alzheimer’s Association. Held annually on the summer solstice, this sunrise-to-sunset event symbolizes the challenging journey of those living with the disease and their caregivers. Teams are encouraged to create their own experience as they fundraise and participate in an activity they love to honor the strength, heart, and endurance of those facing this devastating disease.

Some may choose to dance, hike, bowl, or bicycle. Denver Escape Room offers the opportunity to take on a challenging mental exercise: conquer a series of puzzles to solve a mystery and escape a locked room. This event offers an opportunity for groups, whether they are part of a The Longest Day team or not, to contribute to the fight against the disease.

The goal, in opening on a day when Denver Escape Room is normally closed, is to raise $3,000 to fight Alzheimer’s. Last fall, the business helped raise $1,500 for this important work, while celebrating its one-year anniversary and honoring owner Brian Lacertosa’s Uncle Rick, who passed away last year after a 2003 Alzheimer’s diagnosis.
