Community Garden Program: Would you be willing to give a few hours each week to help our community garden project raise fresh produce for area food banks this year? Last year we donated 7.1 tons. Get some fresh air and also get a share of the produce in exchange for your work as a gardener. It’s not long before the garden season. Call RSVP today for more information.
Senior Peer Counseling Program: A new program through Community Reach Center will train senior volunteers to help other seniors who need someone to talk with, listen to their ideas and needs, and be a caring person in their lives. Call RSVP for further information.
Military Veterans Health and Help Squads: Be the listening ears and helping hands for other veterans, military members and families. This is a program for military vets and/or their spouses (55 or older). Squads of vets/vet spouses visit with squad members by phone, help with activities, share meals and attend events together. Some help at the Colorado Veterans Home. It’s fun! Men’s and women’s squads are open. Tell your vet friends so they can join a squad with you. Call Tom Rapp for information.
Totes of Hope Student Assistance Program: Two Wednesday mornings each month 1750 totes are packed by volunteers with food items for homeless or disadvantaged students living in the Adams 12 Five Star School District. 10-15 additional volunteers are needed. To help these kids contact RSVP.
Help in Adams County elementary schools, Schools Where All Thrive Tutor/Mentor Program (SWAT) working with 2nd and 3rd grade students behind in reading skills, or in our other general elementary tutoring program. We serve Adams 1, 12, 14, 50 and 27J. We need 20-30 more volunteers for new schools and to replace volunteers who weren’t able to continue with us this year. RSVP Disaster Preparedness Team: We need places to present vital information about being prepared in advance for natural or other disasters. We also need team members. Call Tom at RSVP today.
General: Senior Hub Food Pantry Scheduler and Client Assistance Helper: To schedule and help during appointments.
Adams County Museum: To help with events.
In-home care: Volunteers do grocery shopping, run errands, do housekeeping, offer business help or give friendly visits or telephone reassurance to the homebound.
Meals on Wheels: Senior Hub Meals on Wheels (MOW), Aurora MOW and Brighton MOW need drivers so people won’t miss out on this vital meal delivery program.
Adult Day Care: Senior Hub Adult Day service in Northglenn needs helpers at mealtimes and with activities during the day.
Other: Recycling events helpers; Food bank helpers; Meal site servers; Serving in hospitals or senior centers; Serving on boards and committees; Helping in community gardens. Various short-term opportunities. Call RSVP for details on these and other volunteer needs.
Yarn Needed: 4-ply, non-wool yarn for our volunteers who make lap robes for nursing homes, homeless shelters, and veterans.
