The Death Café

SPARK Warm Water Class

This unique class provides enjoyable water-assisted movement to music that stimulates neural pathways, brain activity, muscular strength, and some cardiopulmonary response. Specifically designed for individuals with neurodegenerative diseases, including dementia, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s, who are accompanied by their caregiver or partner. Classes held in warm water leisure pool less than 4 feet deep. Co-sponsored by Alzheimer’s Association SPARK, City of Boulder Senior Services, Boulder Parks & Recreation, and Boulder Seniors Foundation.
Introduction to Instagram and Snapchat

Snap Chat and Instagram are free messaging and social networking apps for smartphones and tablets that feature and manipulate images. This workshop explores how these apps work. Students may bring a smartphone or tablet to download the apps and set up an account on one of the platforms during class (optional). Cultivating Well-Being – NEW

This new course will meet the first Thursday of each month to explore evidence and experience-based approaches for developing and cultivating well-being in daily life. Extensive research demonstrates that happiness and well-being may emerge out of facing anger, depression, and grief. Healthy communities have been studied for decades, providing guidance toward healthier cultural, psychological, and physiological lifestyle choices throughout the life span. Come with an open mind and a willingness to listen and share. Facilitator: Jim Kettering of Leaders Network. Registration is requested.

A Quick Look at Ikebana

The Japanese Art of flower arranging, called Ikebana, has evolved over 500 years and spread globally since World War II. Hazel Thornley has been studying Ikebana for 23 years and will compare and contrast a basic Ikebana arrangement with a Western style arrangement using the same materials. Instructor: Hazel Thornley, rank of Jonin Somu in the Sogetsu School of Ikebana.
