Lego City-International Space Station- Saturday, August 3 and Sunday, August 4
Visit this interactive Lego City space-inspired exhibit in the Sophie’s Place area of the library. The city will feature scenes inspired by this year’s Summer Reading theme, A Universe of Stories. The display is courtesy of the Colorado/Wyoming LEGO Users’ Group and the Denver LEGO Users’ Group.

Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller

Two Muslim Women in America-Tuesday, August 13, 7 p.m.
Author Connie Shoemaker’s book, Taste the Sweetness Later: Two Muslim Women in America, recounts the stories of two resilient Muslim women who arrive in Colorado as refugees fleeing dictators in Iraq and Libya. Shoemaker’s interest in Muslim women began during her family’s four years in Cairo, Egypt, where she taught English as a foreign language at American University in Cairo and wrote for the Associated Press. The author and her book’s subjects, Nisren and Eman, will join us for this special program.

Outdoor Concert: Two Faces West-Thursday, August 15, 6-7:30 p.m.
See the electric rock n’ blues band trio Two Faces West on the front lawn of the library. Two Faces West’s music is a fiery blend of rock and blues with a touch of funk to create a versatile and distinctive Colorado sound. Hot dogs, brats, burgers, and beverages will be available for purchase beginning at 5 p.m. Food tent provided by Interstate Catering.

Crafts for Grownups at the Library: Clutter-Busting Crafts – Sunday, August 18, 2p.m.
Just in time for the new school year, let’s get organized in style! We’ll make clever caddies for desk essentials, quirky cork boards, fun fabric boxes, and more!

Creative Aging Workshop: Exploring Identity and Memory through Creative Writing-Thursday, August 29, 2-4:30 p.m.
Whether you identify as a writer or not, this workshop will lead you through a simple process to transform your personal narrative into poetry. It challenges participants to use figurative language and poetic devices in an organic and authentic way, encouraging connection and building empathy among the group. Together we will mine our memories and celebrate the stories that make us uniquely who we are.

All technology classes and open computer lab are offered from 9:30-11 a.m. unless otherwise noted. One-on-One Technology Help is available on Wednesdays by appointment only.

Editing Photos Online-Monday, August 5, 9:30-11 a.m.
BeFunky is a powerful, free photo editor that you can use online. In this class we’ll learn how to upload our photos, use basic editing techniques, and how to add text to our photos. Note: registration required and class size limited to 10 people.
Prerequisites: Computer basics (familiarity with keyboard and mouse)

Social Media Crash Course-Monday, August 12, 9:30-11 a.m.
Get a quick overview of three popular social media sites: Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. We’ll create an account on each site, as well as go over what they’re best used for, how to create your own posts, and how to interact with others. Note: registration required and class size limited to 10 people.

Best Mobile Apps-Wednesday, August 21, 6-7:30 p.m.
There’s an app for that! Come discover our favorite free mobile apps for everything from meditation to workflow to photography. Apps will be for both Apple and Android devices.

Computer and Device Training: Open Computer Lab
Get answers to all of your computer-related questions every Thursday morning from 9:30-11 a.m. in the library’s Computer Lab. Practice your computer skills and have a little one-on-one time with a computer class instructor. Bring your smartphone or tablet and receive individual help downloading ebooks and eaudiobooks to your device. No registration required.

Join us this summer for our Tech Table! Every other Friday we will showcase one of our technologies including robots and circuitry systems. The Tech Table is open to all ages and there is no registration required. Drop by anytime between 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. to try out a new technology.
